Accounts Manager
Manages day-to-day accounting, statutory compliance and financial reporting for the location.
The role
The Accounts Manager owns the accuracy and integrity of the dealership's books of accounts, statutory compliance and financial reporting at the location. This role is the bridge between day-to-day transaction recording and the management information the CFO and leadership rely on to run the business, so it carries direct responsibility for ensuring that revenue, cost, receivables and payables are correctly captured and reconciled every month. The Accounts Manager also supervises the Accounts Executives at the location, ensuring the team's work meets internal-control and audit standards while supporting timely decision-making for sales, service and inventory functions.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day accounting entries, ledger scrutiny and month-end closing
- Ensure timely and accurate bank, cash and stock reconciliation
- Oversee vehicle, spares and service invoicing and ensure correct revenue recognition
- Ensure timely filing of GST, TDS and other statutory returns
- Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors for audits and closures
- Ensure adherence to OEM and company financial policies and floor-plan/funding terms
- Prepare monthly MIS, profitability and cash-flow reports for management
- Monitor receivables and payables and flag ageing exceptions proactively
- Support budgeting and variance analysis for the location
- Supervise and guide the Accounts Executive(s) at the location
- Ensure adherence to company financial policies and internal controls
- Identify training needs and mentor the accounts team on process and compliance updates
Requirements
- Education: B.Com / M.Com; CA-Inter or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: 8-10 years in accounts/finance, preferably in an automobile dealership or retail environment.
- Working knowledge of Tally/ERP, GST, TDS and other statutory compliances
- MIS reporting, bank reconciliation and inventory/stock accounting
- Team supervision and internal-controls orientation
- Working knowledge of dealer management systems (DMS) for vehicle, spares and service billing
- Advanced MS Excel for MIS and variance analysis
