Leads finance, accounting and commercial control for the new EV business.

UrgentWalk-in

The role

The Chief Financial Officer leads finance, accounting, treasury and commercial control for Mahavir Group's new electric vehicle (EV) business at Hyderabad West, partnering closely with the Business Head to set up sound financial processes and controls for what is a new operation being built from the ground up. Because this is a green-field setup rather than an established dealership, the role calls for someone comfortable designing systems and controls early rather than only operating within existing ones. Strong financial leadership capability matters more here than automobile-industry background, and candidates from other industries are welcome to apply if their track record is strong.

Responsibilities

  • 01Set up the annual budget, financial plan and MIS framework for the new EV business
  • 02Establish internal controls, approval matrices and financial policies appropriate to a new setup
  • 03Ensure accurate books of accounts, statutory compliance and timely audits
  • 04Oversee GST, TDS and other regulatory filings in coordination with group finance/compliance functions
  • 05Manage banking relationships, inventory funding and working capital for vehicle stock
  • 06Monitor cash flow closely given the funding-intensive nature of a new dealership's inventory
  • 07Partner with the Business Head and GM-Sales on pricing, margins and profitability of the EV business
  • 08Track and report unit economics (cost per vehicle sold, funding cost, margin) to management periodically

Requirements

  • 01Education: CA / CMA / MBA (Finance). Candidates from industries other than automobile retail are welcome to apply if their financial leadership track record is strong.
  • 02Experience: 10-15 years in a senior finance role, with at least 3-4 years in a CFO/finance-head capacity; experience setting up finance functions for a new business or unit is a strong plus. Automobile/dealership experience is an advantage but is not a requirement.
  • 03Financial planning, budgeting and MIS for a business unit
  • 04Working capital management, banking relationships and inventory-funding structures
  • 05Statutory compliance, taxation (GST) and audit management
  • 06Cost modeling and unit economics for a new business line
  • 07Ability to build financial processes and controls from scratch in a start-up-style setup
