Senior Technician
Handles complex commercial-vehicle repairs and mentors junior technicians.
The role
The Senior Technician is the workshop's most experienced hands-on repair resource for Isuzu commercial vehicles, personally handling complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic diagnostics while mentoring junior technicians. This role directly affects fleet-customer uptime, so it requires both deep technical competence and the discipline to complete jobs within promised timelines without compromising quality.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults on commercial vehicles
- Handle escalated or repeat-complaint vehicles that junior technicians have been unable to resolve
- Guide and train junior technicians on repair procedures and safety practices
- Review and sign off on junior technicians' work on complex jobs before release
- Ensure jobs are completed within estimated time and to quality standards
- Report recurring/major faults to the Service Advisor/Workshop Manager
- Maintain tools/equipment and enforce workshop safety discipline
Requirements
- Education: ITI / Diploma in Automobile, Mechanical or Diesel trade.
- Experience: 6-10 years as an automobile technician, with commercial vehicle/diesel engine experience.
- Diagnostics on diesel/commercial vehicle mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
- Use of diagnostic tools
- Mentoring and team-guidance skills
- Working knowledge of engine overhaul, fuel-injection and braking systems on commercial vehicles
- Ability to read OEM technical bulletins and repair manuals
