Technician
Carries out vehicle repair, maintenance and servicing work to Škoda's technical standards.
The role
The Technician carries out vehicle repair, maintenance and servicing work exactly as specified on the job card and to Škoda's technical standards, forming the backbone of the workshop's ability to deliver quality repairs on time. This role requires hands-on mechanical, electrical and diagnostic competence, discipline in following standard operating procedures, and clear communication with the Service Advisor whenever additional work is discovered during a job.
Responsibilities
- Carry out periodic maintenance, repairs and diagnostics as assigned on the job card, within the estimated time
- Use OEM diagnostic tools to accurately identify faults before starting repair work
- Follow standard operating procedures and quality/torque specifications
- Report any additional defects found during service to the Service Advisor for customer approval
- Carry out a self-check/test of the repaired system before handing the vehicle back for final inspection
- Maintain tools, equipment and work-bay cleanliness
- Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment at all times
- Record work done, parts consumed and time taken accurately on the job card/DMS
- Flag parts shortages or tooling issues promptly to the Workshop Manager
Requirements
- Education: ITI / Diploma in Automobile, Mechanical or Electrical trade.
- Experience: 2-6 years as an automobile technician (grade/level based on experience).
- Diagnostic and repair skills on Škoda / passenger vehicles
- Use of diagnostic tools and adherence to safety procedures
- Working knowledge of engine, transmission, electrical and AC systems
- Ability to read and follow OEM technical service bulletins and repair manuals
- Basic computer literacy for job-card/DMS updates
